The Vacheron Constantin Métiers d'Art Copernicus Celestial Spheres Grand Feu, reference 7600U/000G-B212, is a remarkable timepiece released in 2017 as part of the brand's celebrated Métiers d'Art collection. This watch features a 43mm white gold case that houses an intricate dial inspired by the astronomical visions of Nicolas Copernicus and the celestial maps of Andreas Cellarius. The central highlight is a 22k gold Grand Feu enamel dial with a champlevé Earth, which rotates around the Sun on an elliptical path, completing the journey in 365.2421898 days while also spinning on its axis every 24 hours. Time is indicated by two triangular hands placed at the periphery of the dial, allowing the celestial theme to take center stage. The watch is powered by an in-house mechanical movement designed to replicate the heliocentric system, showcasing both technical prowess and artistic craftsmanship. The solid caseback and substantial dimensions provide a robust backdrop for this horological masterpiece, emphasizing both form and function. Part of a trio introduced at SIHH 2017, this model stands out for its use of Grand Feu enamel techniques, contributing to its unique aesthetic appeal within the collection.
