Finding the right timepiece...

Close your eyes, picture a classic round Swiss dress watch, and you've more or less drawn the Chemin des Tourelles. Named for the street leading to Tissot's Le Locle factory, it's the brand's refined dress icon: a domed sapphire crystal over a sunray or guilloche dial, slim faceted markers, and a gently curved case that slips under a cuff. The 2023 redesign sharpened all of it and dropped in the Nivachron-equipped Powermatic 80, an 80-hour automatic with real anti-magnetic resistance. You'll find it from 34 to 43mm, on leather or a five-link bracelet, in a wide spread of dials, plus dressier gold-PVD and diamond-set options. For the money, it punches well above its price as a proper mechanical dress watch.
