Panerai's oldest lineage, and the one to reach for if you want the purest version of the brand's 1930s naval roots. The Radiomir traces to 1936, when Panerai built it for the frogmen of the Royal Italian Navy. The signature is the cushion case with thin wire lugs welded straight to the body, and a clean, minimalist dial with no crown guard, which is what visually separates it from the Luminor. The name comes from the radium-based luminous paint Panerai patented back in 1916. Current models run mostly hand-wound, in steel, gold, and titanium, and include the beloved California dial (half Roman, half Arabic numerals). It's the quieter, more vintage Panerai.
