WATCH PURSUIT
Finding the right timepiece...

IWC's dress-watch flagship, and arguably its most elegant line. The Portugieser was born in the 1930s when two Portuguese merchants asked for a wristwatch with the accuracy of a marine chronometer, so it started large, clean, and precise, and it still reads that way: a slim bezel, long applied Arabic numerals, a railway-track minute ring, and slender leaf hands. The family runs deep, from the time-and-date Automatic to the signature Chronograph, up through the Perpetual Calendar with its moon phase and the tourbillons at the top. You'll find it in steel and precious metals, most iconically with a blue or silver dial. The Chronograph in particular is one of the most recognizable dress chronographs made, and the line as a whole is IWC at its most refined.
